J.Lo - LOVE?

The new American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez’s latest, her 7th studio album, Love? is to be released on March 29, 2011. She started writing material for this album when she was pregnant back in 2007, when it was in the works at Sony, and songs that she’s newly recorded. After two single releases in 2009, “fresh out of the oven” and "Louboutins", the one she performed at 2009 American Music Awards (and fell during the live show), were her last with Sony. In late February 2010, it was confirmed that Lopez and Epic Records had parted ways. It didn’t take long for J.Lo to find another home… as on March 19, 2010, Lopez signed with Def Jam Recordings, and resumed working on new material for Love?.

The album features productions from Danja, Jim Jonsin, Darkchild, Chris n Teeb (from Dropzone), Tricky Stewart, The-Dream, D'Mile Mike Caren, Jean Baptiste, The Neptunes and RedOne (hit maker behind Lade Gaga). Which is interesting considering RedOne came down the red carpet at Sunday evening’s 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, where he spilled some details about what to expect when Love? drops next month. “I did about half of the album and I am one of the executive producers with LA Reid,” Red One told EW. “The first song, ‘On The Floor,’ is already blowing up and the rest is even better. Lots of dance songs.”

Not only does she collaborate with different producers on this album, but she also collaborate with other artists, such as Pitbull, whom she features on two of the singles already released, “Fresh Out Of The Oven” (Topped Hot Dance Charts in 2009) and on her latest single (Lambada-riffing) “On The Floor” already a hit and now playing on radio stations around the world (although not the Billboard charts in the U.S….yet). So we’ve gotten a taste of what’s possibly to come, but what’s up with the rest of the album?
How does Lopez’s role as a new judge on American Idol fit into her new musical iteration? Most of the album was done before she started Idol so I don’t think that will influence her sound, but I think it has probably been a great experience for her to be reminded what it is like to just be starting out and to be excited when everything is new.

So what’s in holds for Jennie from the Block??? Only time will tell… It is fans call… if they accept JLOve with open arms…
